We got hands on with the best looking/fastest phone on offer at the moment!
When the OnePlus 6 was announced, the company announced it would be available in three colours (mirror black, black, and white) Leaving us forgetting about the red colour-way. However, that red phone hadn’t been forgotten, and now, it’s available.
Anyone that knows OnePlus knows they sell like 1/2 price hot cakes. We pinned this against the iPhone X, in short we couldn’t tell you one thing the iPhone beat the OnePlus in. Especially speed, when it comes to speed, the OnePlus 6 is fast…seriously fast.
The OnePlus 6 is the firm’s latest flagship-killing smartphone. Equipped with Qualcomm’s octa-core 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 processor – rather than the 2.4GHz Snapdragon 835 we’ve seen previously – and 8GB of RAM and three different storage configurations, this phone seeks to join the ranks of other smartphone giants.
The 19:9 screen, which remains a 2,280 x 1,080 resolution unit, is slightly larger at 6.3in across the diagonal, with a familiar iPhone X-style notch at the top. A dual 16- and 20-megapixel camera arrangement is on the rear, and the phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo from the get-go.
With such powerful hardware, features and build quality in this phone, it makes you realise just how much profit the bigger names are making.
The 6 also joins the group of all-metal-and-glass smartphones, with the front and back of the phone sandwiched between a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. This provides added protection from drops, but the OnePlus 6 isn’t IP-rated for dust- or water-resistance. Instead, OnePlus says that the phone is “water-resistant for everyday use”, so you can expect protection from light splashes of rain, but not much else.
Elsewhere, the OnePlus 6’s layout largely remains the same. There’s a volume rocker and dual-SIM slot on the left side of the phone with a three-position “alert-slider” and power button on the right. On the bottom you’ll find the USB-C port with Dash Charge support, a 3.5mm headphone jack (yay!) and the solitary speaker grille.
The three launch colours are still available as well, with the limited edition red finish joining Midnight Black, Mirror Black and Silk White. If it’s the red that’s taking your fancy though, you may want to move fast as this limited edition shade could disappear from sale at any point. In the past, limited edition colours of OnePlus devices have sold out pretty quickly.
The Red OnePlus 6 are available on the OnePlus store, though don’t be surprised if the site is a bit overwhelmed with traffic once the phone goes on sale. Just be patient and you’ll get your phone.
A truly iconic phone at an affordable price.
